CYPRESS

Cypress is a tree from the Cupressaceae family. There are many species of cypress, with the most well-known being Cupressus sempervirens, or the Mediterranean cypress. Throughout history, this tree has been known as “the tree that lives forever,” which is reflected in its botanical name.

Cypress essential oil is obtained through steam distillation of the branches. The resulting oil is light yellow in color and rich in alpha-pinene (about 60%). It takes approximately 80 kg of plant material to produce 1 kg of essential oil.
