This spice plant originates from Indonesia and was brought to Europe during the Middle Ages. Clove is an evergreen tree that can reach heights of up to 10 meters.
The essential oil is obtained through steam distillation of the buds. Approximately 6 kg of buds are needed to produce 1 kg of essential oil. Clove essential oil is rich in phenols, primarily eugenol.
