The orange tree is native to China, where it has been cultivated for over 2000 years. It arrived in Europe via Portugal in the 16th century. Sweet orange oil is obtained by pressing the peel of the fruit and has a refreshing citrus aroma. It takes 2000 oranges to produce 1 kg of essential oil.
