There are over 200 different species of geraniums, but the essential oil of geranium is derived from fragrant geraniums (Pelargonium graveolens). Due to its exquisite aroma, it is one of the favorite ingredients in the perfume industry.

The essential oil is obtained through steam distillation of the leaves and flowers, resulting in a greenish oil. Over 500 kg of plant material is needed to produce 1 kg of essential oil. It is a popular addition to body care emulsions due to its pleasant floral note.
